David Carroll

Ireland native David Carroll received his early training as an intern at the Irish National Stud, before emigrating to the United States at age 25. Soon after his arrival, he began working for Hall of Fame conditioner Shug McGaughey, and galloping stable stars Seeking the Gold and Easy Goer. Carroll struck out on his own in 1992, and saddled his first Graded stakes winner in 1994. He is perhaps best known as the trainer of 2008 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes-placed Denis of Cork. In 2009, his runners are in the money 54% of the time, led by Helen Alexander’s Grade I filly Acoma.
