Reigning Eclipse Award winner Steve Asmussen has always had the pedigree to be a leading trainer--and like the best bred horses, has fulfilled the promise of his championship lineage. His parents, Keith and Marilyn, break some of the top Thoroughbreds in the world at their Laredo, Texas training center. And his brother, Cash, was Champion jockey six times, both in Europe and the U.S. Now back in North America, Cash maintains an active bloodstock agency.
Steve has won the Classic Preakness Stakes twice in the past three years, with Horse of the Year Curlin and 2009 superstar filly Rachel Alexandra. He holds the record for most wins by a trainer in a single season, and is known for his ability to successfully place a horse in a race, and for his easy-going, low key manner. He is a young horseman who will be at the top of the trainer standings for decades to come.
